Tie Dye X Psycho
Constance Bag, 24 cm, Black Calf Box Leather - 24 x 15 x 5 cm
Yarn Embroidery by Jay Ahr
Influences: 1960s. Americana. Tie Dye culture. Cult Classic film.
The Hermès Constance Psycho is a stunning yet unsettling clash of Americana. Riss has put in stark contrast conflicting themes of the 1960s. Tie dye culture, a symbol of non-violence sported by hippies protesting the Vietnam war and the full on horror of the macabre cult classic that is the film Psycho.
Risqué and taboo-breaking, it quickly became, and remains, the most notorious title in the substantial Hitchcock canon, a singular masterpiece that still has the power to enthrall and appall. He regarded it as a wicked joke, a "fairytale of awfulness”. The famous shower scene, a tour de force of montage, illusion and shrieking violins, runs for less than two minutes and yet looms fearfully large in the collective memory.
